Performance improvement methods for quartz tube solid particle fluidized bed solar receiver

The conditions to improve performance of quartz tube silicon carbide (SiC) solid particle fluidized bed solar receiver was investigated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. difficulty experimenting all possible operating overcome by preparing CFD base input appropriate models and parameters. amount SiC in the bed, size particles, air inlet velocity were considered as variables. After model verification, order evaluate effect addition, without particles simulated first. Outlet temperature single-phase calculated 421 K. temperatures 913 K, 895 881 K obtained for 400 μm diameter 0.3 m height velocities 0.25, 0.3, 0.35 m/s. Air outlet decreases increases. On other hand, too much reduction at retards system since it affects fluidization. For 0.2 m, 994 974 955 found same above. As decreases, diameters 300 500 980 878 minimum fluidization velocities. increased decreasing size.
